The Austin Alpha app is the private tool of the Gamma Eta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Austin Alpha Foundation decides what member information the app collects and how it is used, and is responsible for it. The app is operated on the Foundation's behalf.
This policy covers the Austin Alpha mobile app and the website at austinalpha.app, including the officer admin at austinalpha.app/admin.
Questions, or a request about your information: info@austinalphafoundation.org.
The app is for brothers of the chapter. Accounts are created by invitation from a chapter officer — you cannot sign up on your own, and none of the content is public. The app is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
You give us:
The app records as you use it:
Member information exists for chapter and fraternity purposes only — running meetings and events, keeping the roster and directory accurate, collecting dues, and brother-to-brother contact within the fraternity.
It may not be used for personal business, commercial outreach, solicitation, or any purpose outside the chapter and fraternity, and it may not be shared with anyone outside the brotherhood.
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
We share only what each provider's job requires, and none of them may use your information for its own purposes.
We answer requests within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your information; ask and we will honor them. We will never charge you or treat you differently for asking.
We keep your information while your account is active.
When your account is deleted, every personal field is destroyed: your email, phone number, photo, location, birthday, line information, initiated chapter, membership ID, chapter position, and your consent record. Your login is destroyed with it, and your profile picture is deleted from storage.
Some things necessarily remain, and we would rather say so plainly than imply an erasure that does not happen:
In the app, open the Me tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete my account. The next screen lists exactly what is destroyed and what remains, and asks you to confirm. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
If you can no longer sign in, email info@austinalphafoundation.org and we will delete the account for you.
Deleting your account frees your email address, so if you rejoin the chapter later an officer can invite you again as normal. The old account is not restored — you would start fresh.
Reaching any member information requires signing in. The database enforces per-member access rules of its own, so the app cannot show a brother something he is not entitled to see. Traffic is encrypted in transit, and information is stored on servers in the United States.
No system is perfect. If we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we will tell you.
If we change this policy we post the new version on this page with a new date. When a change materially affects how your information is used, the app will also ask you to accept the updated member data agreement before you continue.
